A couple o new pots
I'm really digging these new altered forms with the small trimmed foot. It seems to work equally well for both cups and bowls and they are super fun to make--I get to use all of my fun tools, and lots of trimming (see full trimming box below after a dozen little cups--have I mentioned that I like trimming?). I guess you could call the little cups yunomis, but I like to think of them in terms of bourbon over tea, but imagine whatever use you decide ;) I'm actually looking forward to keeping a couple of these little guys for myself. I tend to just keep the crappy leftovers for myself--the ones that aren't bad enough to smash, but not good enough to sell. My cabinet is a hodge podge of really good pots from other potters and really bad pots from myself. I need to remedy that.

lol, your cabinet sounds exactly like mine! only i actually have mostly my own crappy pots and unfortunately just a few good ones from others.
ReplyDeleteLove your trimming catching box! I know what you mean about trimming and it might be related to the griffin grip. Since I got mine, I really enjoy trimming too! Never could 'tap to center'... :-)

Your pots look great and thebox for trimming works really well.
ReplyDeleteLess mess is good.
Love your trimming box, may have to steal a picture of it off of here to have my husband build me one!
ReplyDeleteMaking yourself keep your good work for you to use is always hard, but it is worth it. I made a whole set of dishes just for my family, although I could have sold them and had someone offer to buy them almost immediately...but I kept them and we use them. It is very motivating to look at them while you are eating lunch & think - wow! I made that, better get back to work. :)
Julia--I've got a couple of better pictures of the trimming box here:

There are a few pots I wish I had never smashed, the trick is to find room for all of mine. Those altered pots are great, wonderful personality.
